Imagine the perfect traveller in the seat next to you on a long-haul flight – one that doesn’t snore, take up the armrest, crunch loudly or talk too much.
Whoever sits next to Ying Quartet cellist David Ying will enjoy the silent company of his cello, which gets its own airline seat for the trip from New York to Nelson.
The Adam Festival has also booked airline cello seats for Heather Lewis and Euan Murdoch to bring their instruments from around New Zealand; while Douglas Mews is travelling on the ferry from Wellington with his forte piano in a van!
Fortunately our five wonderful pianists in the Festival do not have to bring their own instruments!
