We launched our new branding and website at a Gala Dinner at The Boathouse in Nelson on the evening of 7th February 2012 featuring the New Zealand String Quartet.
The new site is a creative collaboration between Dave Knight of Nimbus Advertising and web designers Avoca Design, the result of which is an attractive, informative site with cutting edge features.
In designing the new branding for the festival we wanted imagery that was fresh, creative and intimate, something that reflected Nelson as the Festival’s home.
“We wanted to feature a chamber musician, but also wanted to somehow reflect something of Nelson’s creative lineage”, said graphic designer Dave Knight. “We came up with the concept of a violinist, wearing a spectacular headdress, standing on a marble pillar, which we believed resonates with the Nelson based Wearable Arts imagery, as well as the sophistication of chamber music”.
“We also wanted to feature close up intimate images of musicians playing to reflect the intimacy and feeling of involvement our audiences experience at the festival”, he added. “Consequently we engaged photographer Daniel Allen for two photo shoots and we are thrilled with the results”.
Crucial in the development of the new website was the ability for our audiences to sign up and receive email newsletter updates of programme and guest announcements.
“Our old database was largely postal based”, said manager Bob Bickerton, “But we wanted to be able to communicate more directly with our Festival supporters, so that we could inform them when exciting developments took place in our two year cycle”.
The new site offers an easy sign up form which enables supporters to sign up and receive newsletters as the Festival develops.
