Over 60% of people attending concerts in our Festival travel from out of Nelson, many from overseas and whilst here have the opportunity to visit the many cultural attractions the region has to offer. We asked Jahmiel Sowman of World of WearableArt™ to write about what they have to offer.
The World of WearableArt™ and Classic Cars Museum houses two world class collections, both a creative and visual feast that defies description.
Since opening in 2001 this unique and diverse Nelson attraction means visitors can enjoy the special WOW® experience all year round.
Intricate detailing is unveiled on your up close experience of the amazing garments that feature in the WearableArt™ Gallery. Each year, hundreds of individuals are driven to transform an idea into reality, by designing a Brancott Estate World of WearableArt™ entry. Each garment embodies hours of energy, skill and mind bending creativity. With over 60 garments from around the globe on display to wondrous effect, using theatrical lighting, music and movement there will be something to captivate & inspire all.
In the adjoining Classic Cars gallery, motoring enthusiasts can marvel over approximately 40 beautifully restored and original condition classic cars and motorcycles. The car collection represents years of passionate sourcing from around the world and New Zealand and is one of Australasia’s largest private collections. An optional extra for car-lovers is the Classic Collection, an additional area displaying a further 70 classic vehicles from the collection, including several undergoing restoration.
