It’s not quite a knighthood, but we’re very proud of the Adam Festival Manager, Bob Bickerton, who was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year’s Honours for his 40 years of service to music.
Since emigrating to New Zealand from Birmingham in 1974, Bob has had a long career in professional performing arts. He became general manager of the Southern Sinfonia in 1984, went on to direct the Nelson School of Music, has founded a number of Celtic music associations, played his educational music show to over 300,000 primary school children around the country and has recorded and sound engineered music from classical to cabaret.
Bob runs a tight and well organized Festival for us, always maintaining his great sense of humour and we are thrilled for him with this well-deserved honour. He joins chairperson Colleen Marshall who received her award in 2014.
