We are very excited to announce that Canadian violinist Nikki Chooi will be joining us for the 2019 Festival.
Nikki comes through our association with the Michael Hill Violin Competition, and was the 2013 winner. Well accomplished across concerts and recitals, Nikki is clearly passionate about chamber music, having performed in many international festivals and collaborations with the likes of Pamela Frank, Gary Graffman, Kim Kashkashian and with members of Guarneri String Quartet, Juilliard String Quartet, Vermeer String Quartet and Orion String Quartet. Nikki also frequently performs with his brother, violinist Timothy Chooi.
As a further indication of his breadth of talent, in 2016/2017 Nikki was Concertmaster for New York’s Metropolitan Opera Orchestra after serving as Guest Concertmaster with Pittsburgh Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Moritzburg Festival Orchestra.
For a sample of Nikki’s brilliance, here is his winning performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto in the 2013 Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
