Increased Funding For Festival

Following a period of applications and negotiations we were delighted when the Nelson City Council decided to fund the Adam Chamber Music Festival through its Economic Development Agency (EDA).

Following the last two festivals the Trust had engaged market research company McDermott Miller to assess the economic impact of the festival to the Nelson economy. The total new spend from the 2011 Festival was $2.3 million with a Total Value Added of $1.4 million. This compelling impact lead the Council to fund the Festival under their EDA scheme as the return from investment represented exceptional value.

The Nelson City Council specified $70,000 be available for the 2013 Festival with an option for a further $70,000 for the 2015 Festival.

“This funding along with ongoing strong support from our naming rights sponsor, the Adam Foundation, provides the Trust with a great deal of security to plan future festivals with confidence”, said Manager Bob Bickerton. “Further funding from sponsors and donors will also be necessary, but to have a secure funding base such as this enables us to move forward and produce even better festivals”, he added, “We are in exciting times”.
